The Business Audit

Where every client relationship begins.

Most firms come to us knowing something is wrong but not exactly what. The Business Audit answers that question with precision. Over two to three weeks we examine the firm from the inside: how decisions get made, where the business breaks without the founder, what the technology stack actually does versus what it is supposed to do, and what the firm looks like to a buyer or successor today.

What you receive at the end is not a list of observations. It is a prioritised action plan with defined ownership, clear next steps, and a roadmap that becomes the foundation for everything that follows.

What the audit covers
  • Decision-making structures: who decides what, and where decisions stall.
  • Operational dependencies: where the business stops if the founder steps back.
  • Technology and tools: what exists, what overlaps, what is missing.
  • Data and reporting: what is being measured, what is being misread, what is invisible.
  • Business value assessment: what the firm would look like to a buyer or successor today.

The Operating Retainer

Where the work actually gets done.

The audit tells you what needs to change. The retainer changes it. This is a monthly engagement with a minimum three to six month commitment, not because we need the runway, but because operational change does. Systems take time to build, test, and embed. Firms that want a quick fix are not the right fit for this engagement.

What the retainer covers shifts based on audit findings and the firm's priorities. The through-line is always the same: founder knowledge becomes documented process, disconnected tools become integrated systems, and decisions that used to wait for one person start happening without them.

What engagement typically covers
  • Decision support and KPI interpretation: monthly review of business performance against priorities.
  • Process design and documentation: turning founder knowledge into transferable, trainable systems.
  • Tool consolidation: rationalising the software stack and integrating disconnected systems.
  • AI evaluation and integration: assessing where AI belongs in the workflow and designing governance around it.
  • Operational project management: driving specific initiatives to completion with defined owners and deadlines.
